This workshop is designed for teams who want to establish common values as a basis for:
During this 2-day workshop teams will identify the core values driving their organization, and through personal feedback Profiles compare their individual work values with those of their organization. Teams will then develop an ideal set of work values and behavioral guidelines as a framework for improved performance. Values are concepts or beliefs that determine how we live our life. At work they are major influences on how individuals approach work. Values drive our decisions and cause us to summon up energy to preserve what we believe in or what we want to defend. As such they can be principle determinants of behavior and will impact our views about people, situations or events. When team members share the same values the team will have the energy to deliver outstanding performance. Where individual values clash, conflict will occur and teams are unlikely to reach their full potential. Dr. Dick McCann has spent four years researching values in the workplace and has developed a new model - the Window on Work Values which identifies eight core value types important to the work of teams and organizations. This model has a high degree of reliability and structural validity and has been tested with hundreds of managers and team members worldwide. The Window on Work Values program and Profile is available exclusively through Team Management Systems. Further Information Request

BENEFITS Values fall into eight core types which influence our behavior at work - learn how to identify these Assess your organization's work values Learn about your own work values in a 3000-word feedback report Use activities that focus on real work issues Experience the process of using card sort activities and discussion to develop an ideal set of work values for your team Share the different perspectives of other team members and develop a set of ground rules to guide and influence future behavior in your team MATERIALS Personal Profile and Development Guide WORKSHOP DESIGN This is a three-stage workshop exclusively for teams and intact work groups. Stage One: Participants discover the McCann Window on Work Values model and analyze their organization's core values by way of a card sort activity. Comparisons are made between the values that drive the team and the organization. Stage Two: Participants will receive a Window on Work Values Profile from the 64-item profile questionnaire they completed before the workshop. Individuals' values are then compared with those of the organization to determine the degree of alignment. Stage Three: The team or work group then develops its own work charter covering team purpose and team values. Using the Window on Work Values and the card sort, participants will determine the values they would like the team to have. These will then be developed into a set of ground rule behaviors and actions that will support those values.
