PrefaceThe Workplace Pyramid is a model I developed to address the strategic issue 'Who are we?' discussed in more detail in the first e-book of this series, High-Energy Teams. It combines the work I did with Dr Charles Margerison on preferences, with my work on values and risk, to give an integrated tool that helps us understand why people behave the way they do.
The model is a conceptual framework to help anyone at work understand 'differences'. For those planning an intervention to change workplace behavior, the model is a useful diagnostic framework invaluable in deciding where to start.
This e-book is the third in a series that describes the concepts forming the core of Team Management Systems (TMS) technology. The Workplace Pyramid is the result of over 25 years as a researcher and consultant, helping people improve performance at work. The concepts can be used in personal, team and organizational development and have the strong research underpinnings that go with Team Management Systems techniques.
In this e-book I have given an overview of the three levels of Preference, Risk and Values. Each level is dealt with in more detail in the other e-books of this series. Preferences are described in more detail in Language of Teamwork; Risk-Orientation in Stumbling Blocks or Stepping-Stones? - Dealing with risk at work, and Values in Values in the Workplace.
